Durga Puja is the most captivating festival of the city called Kolkata, the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Blessed by Goddess Durga and adorned in vibrant colours, the visuals are stunning. Witness over two thousand pandals supporting fifty million families during this ten-day festival on India's Mega Festivals.

This is a mega festival of Durga Worship. Kolkata is this city's voice of rich artists and Bengali Babus and this aristocratic city is known to be pretty laidback for 355 days of the year but what about the remaining 10 days when Maa Durga comes to the city, the celebrations in Kolkata never stop. A wave of excitement runs through the city during the 10-day mega festival Durga Puja. And when the crowds in this city increase, go by and there's only one thing you can do, go with the wave of this crowd. Visit Kolkata's mega festival Durga Puja which is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site.

According to a study done in 2019, 10 days of Durga Puja is an economy of Rs 32000 crore ($42 billion) in itself. This directly or indirectly is a source of income for more than 5 crore (50 million) people across the city. All the frenzy is centered around the pandals or temporary temples.

There is a lot of commotion, this is the home of Goddess Durga for 10 days and here. There are more than 2000 pandals in Kolkata itself and I am visiting one of the biggest pandals in the city.

Irish-Indian artists have jointly created an idol of Maa Durga along with Irish Goddess Danu. Durga and Danu symbolise women’s empowerment and feminine power.

I went to the Behala Natun Dal pandal yesterday so I had to wait for a while to go inside. It's one of the top twenty-five Pujas of the year.
