Social studies Homework: Family

Greetings to @steemkids and all the members present in the community, this group serves as a family to many. Thanking our social studies teacher @udyliciouz for teaching us again on another nice topic, which am sure we've all read, and we can answer the questions on them.

From our primary section the definition of a family was already embedded in us, as we can't seem to forget. We do here choruses from pupils in schools saying "A family is a group of people related by blood", that was the easiest and basic definition of a family, but there are other definitions which we came to know as we progressed.

• A family is a group of people related by blood, marriage and adoption. They can also be a social unit living together, sharing the same household. A family can be extended from the nuclear to the extended consisting of the relatives.

There are different types of marriage practice in my country, which are:

• Traditional/ customary marriage: this is a type of marriage which is conducted in accordance or agreement with the families customs and tradition. We do see the bride's family giving the marriage list to the groom which will contain many traditional items, like yam, kolanut, palmwine, and a lot of items in preparation of the traditional marriage. It is a very interesting type of marriage.

• Church marriage: This is done in the church in which the couples are joint together and blessed with prayers for a good home, which is done by the pastor or the person in charge.

• Islamic marriage: This is just like the church marriage but based on the denomination, it is done in the mosque, based on the religion, everything is carried out there.

The difference in the above mentioned marriages is based on the location and how things are carried out. From the traditional marriage things are done traditionally, with the tradition attires, which satisfies the term "how things are carried out". Then the location, looking at church and Islamic marriage, the church marriage as the name implies is done in the church, while the Islamic marriage is done in the mosque.

Living together as one brings so much benefit to the family and society at large.

• Unity: staying together brings unity amongst the family members as they enjoy staying together.

• understanding: living together helps bring understanding, like understanding one another's needs

• protection

• Good social behavior

• Happiness:

My answer to this question is yes, an househelp is a big part of the family for the moment which she stays. We can see reasons for this. Let's assume a critical case in which the house help is in danger, and the community or neighbours will run to her family, which is the one she's serving as an househelp, to show that they offer protection, love and care to her which makes her part of the family.
