DISCIPLESHIP (10% to @steemchurch)

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1)

The word "Discipleship" comes from the word "Disciple" (which origin could be traced to the word "Discipline").

Firstly, a disciple is someone who is being trained or disciplined by a person whom he wants to be like. To be a disciple, requires patience and total submission, and this could only be achieved through the Grace of God.

Discipleship on the other hand, means the act/process of training or disciplining someone.
The person who is responsible for the training is called a mentor, while the person being trained or disciplined is the Disciple, also called a mentee.

As far as Christianity is concerned, Jesus Christ is our Mentor and we are His disciples. As such, we are to be like Him, emulating Him and walking according to His guidance and will concerning our lives. This could only be achieved if we study the Bible, pray and stay ever connected to Him.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, also charged us to go into the world and make more disciples for the kingdom of God, and that is the Great Commission which he gave to His disciples before returning back to God the Father, urging us to preach salvation to all men and baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost in preparation of His second coming to take His children to Heaven, where they will spend eternity without hunger, pain, sickness, sorrow, troubles and afflictions, etc.

One has to be born again and confess Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior before one could become a Disciple of Jesus Christ.

God help us all. Amen
