The diary game:I am so sad today.
I apologize to you that Today you feel down. There are moments when we are simply surrounded on all sides and we are filled with a sorrowful atmosphere that even feels as if it’s too hard to bear sinking deeper and deeper. Perhaps there was something that made you feel this way recently. It can be a specific project at the office, a relationship with a spouse, or even an unsettling thought which is quite unacceptable and cannot be any thought. In such circumstances, it may be useful to remind yourself that all feelings, even the bad ones, do not last and eventually wear away. It’s not such a big step in making the pain feel better but slowly coming to peace with the fact that people do get sad sometimes makes everything else easier. You should take it a second at a time, inhale deeply and be kind to yourself about it.
In some cases you can unburden yourself by actually describing what you are facing or by being engaged in some low-level activities (self-care) that could help one care about themselves Steps, big or small, even though they may seem impractical, will always benefit us. It could be confiding in a close friend, stepping outside to gorge oneself in the sun or some good food, or even having an activity one finds soothing, there is no harm in what one is feeling.
