Vlog 97 | How I Make My Thumbnails | Photoshop Layer Mask Tutorial

In this video I show how I make my thumbnails from start to finish. This shows how to use the gradient tool to create gradients for your background, and also how to use layer masks to mask between your subject and background.

Bear with me as this is my first photoshop tutorial and is a full look at how I make my thumbnails. I hope to make a more in depth and shorter video about layer masks in the future that will show several different uses of layer masking.

You can create a layer mask be selecting the layer you want to mask, going to layers and selecting create layer mask. you can either hide all or reveal all. I tend to use reveal all so you start with the full image showing. However if you were using this layer as a special effects or texture layer doing hide all would make more sense.

Once You have created the background and frame as I show you can save this and use this over and over to create some consistency in your thumbnail.
