We are the lunatic fringe

Recently I went to a couple of Blockchain events : Blockshow Europe in Berlin and Blockchain Expo in Amsterdam.

The former was a big and very well organized event while the later was more of a B class trade show.

I wanted to see what this Blockchain and crypto really was. And have the information from the source. From experts on this particular field and not just from random guys that made some YouTube videos.

And indeed, I got a wealth of knowledge. I saw presentations and panel discussions that really opened my eyes and helped me put things into the right perspective.

All of the speakers in both events were in agreement. This is a technology that will change our lives, even though we are not exactly sure how, and this is a technology in a very early stage.

And then it was this video from Andreas Antonopoulos , who actually says that we are not even the early adopters.

We are the lunatic fringe!!!

And call us however you want the fact still remains that we are amongst the few that know and use this technology. Big or mass adoption will come in three to five years.

On the positive side we have the early adopters advantage. We can amass assets that will be valuable in the years to come. Most of these assets that we gather now will have zero value, but some of them will be greatly appreciated. Which ones, you may ask. I don’t know, although I hope that Steem is one of those valuable assets.

We have time to experiment and learn the tech. Experiment with currencies, tokens, platforms, wallets and all the good stuff that we use.

Establish our position as users of various applications and experts if we want to. Imagine if you were amongst the first millions of users of Facebook. How much room would you have to grow and what advantage you would have for your business if you wanted to use it that way.

But, on the other hand being so early in the game means that a lot of projects will fail and we will end up wasting our time and possibly money. Imagine if you had invested on MySpace or even if you had a page there.

The top10 cryptos will be very different in 5 years from now and I wish I knew which ones will last. Because, those who will survive will have prices greater than they had last December.

So, what do I do ?

I experiment and diversify.

Let’s take social media for example.

Steemit ? I am heavy on Steemit… (I am very positive that the Steem Blockchain is here to stay.)

Lit and Mithril? I am there too.

ONO ? I’ll give it a try…

Appics? Sure , bring it on.

Some of them will not exist in five years but in those that will still exist we can have an advantage as early users/adopters. All you have to do is to show up and be consistent.

I don’t mind trying new things and I don’t mind failing.

Something works ? Fine!

Something doesn’t work? Fine again! Let’s take our lesson and move on to the next thing.

In the end we don’t care that much…

Remember ?

We are the lunatic fringe !

Be Healthy, Smile and Steem On !!!

A person can not know exactly the future, but he has the opportunity to experiment, try and enjoy the present! And time will tell what will happen in five years!

Yes , more choices the more chances you have the right thing.

I absolutely agree with you!

Like you said, we have to experiment and try everything with an open mind, hopefully Steemit stick around for a while because it's perhaps the most original and disruptive cryptocurrency there is. I'm proud to be a part of the lunatic fringe!

Isn't it great to be lunatic ? :)

It sounds very intriguing!
