Greetings to all my fellow steemians ✍️, writing this post is such a pleasure, today's post I will be writing about How to proccess "Garri".
Before processing garri you have to made up your mind, because the stress is too much.
DefinitionsGarri is a popular West African food, made from cassava tubers. It's a type of fermented and fried cassava flakes that are rich in carbohydrates etc. Garri is commonly consumed in countries like Nigeria, Ghana, e t c, and many other countries.
Garri is a staple food in many West African households and is known for its versatility and nutritional value.
Steps to follow
- Harvesting and pilling:
Harvesting of cassava tubers is the first step of processing garri, it's done by pulling the cassava stem from the ground and cutting it with cutlass,
Then you start the pilling method to make your work look neat.
- Washing:
Washing the cassava after pilling, is one of the important step of processing garri, to avoid dirts and germs from penetrating your tubers.
Bagging ,granding and pressing;:
After the washing, bagging is needed so that you can carry the garri to the granding and pressing area, during granding You will put the cassava tubers into the granding mechine, then after the cassava tubers have been granded, then it's time to put it inside the bag again and take it to the pressing area, so that the presser will remove the starch/water, then after 24 hours, when the starches and water has been removed then remove it and go to the next steps.Fermentation: allowing the granded cassava tubers for 2-3 days before sieving and frying
sieving and frying:
After bagging, granding and pressing, then remove the bag of granded and dried cassava and filter it to separate the chaff(alebo).then you start frying by setting fire with fire woods, and using the frying sticks⚒️ to fry it.
