This is again a tutorial on how to make a cinemagraph considering that some members wanted it simple.

The advantage of cinemagraphs is that you can use them anywhere, where videos are not allowed and you still want to have a moving picture.
In addition, they generate attention.

Here we go:

The first step is to load the video in Adobe Photoshop.
Create a new layer above the video layer.
Take one frame in the video layer as still image and copy it in the new layer.

Set a mask to the still image layer and draw with a soft brush in black to the area you want to be animated.

Check the animation and export as GIF. In the present case, I had to change the quality and size of the GIF, because with Steemit the limit for uploads is about 8MB.

That's it.

Some hints:

The video you use should be made on a tripod. No zoom should be used and no change in exposure should be made during recording.

Nice and simples job done :)

Thanks a lot. Hope I hope that I have given some ideas.

This is a neat walk through! Makes me wish I had photoshop now. Stuck on MS paint and back in the day I used paintshop pro when it was free.

When you say Cinemagraph, is that like and animated GIF or is that something else?

Always wondered how to make one out of videos or the LIVE shirt vids my iphone shoots.

It's something like an animated GIF. You use the video in Adobe Photoshop for the animation by masking the layer. Hope I described it well.

It's interesting. I never thought it would be that easy.

Therefore I made the new tutorial. Have fun with creating cinemagraphs.

Thanks for sharing! I usually rely on my boyfriend to help me with anything graphic, but it's great to see easy tutorials that I know I could even follow on my own. It really amazes me how much you can manipulate images and videos to create all kinds of different final products!

Thanks a lot, @plantstoplanks. Yes, Adobe Photoshop let me do this.

It really is simple actually, thanks for the tutorial.

You are welcome.

I had to actually Google cinemagraph. I'd not come across that term before. Seems like a fairly simple process though. Thanks for the tutorial.

Yes, there are not many who know about it and it is really easy to do.
