Day 1: Have you run out of ideas for your posts?

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)
A short visit to my blog will reveal that I haven't published constantly for a while, and I could argue that I have run out of ideas or inspiration. Can that happen? Can someone really run out of ideas? More importantly, can someone live without ideas? Having or not inspiration is debatable, but I find it hard to think that someone can run completely out of ideas.

Even the individual with the simplest mind possesses thoughts of some kind. The complexity of these may vary from person to person, but we all have something in mind at any time. I realize this when I walk. I like to walk because it helps me to become conscious of my mind by moving away from the daily distractions of my life. I was tempted to write that walking helps me clear my thoughts but I quickly realized that this is not entirely true. My thoughts are like a stampede of wild horses, I start thinking about one particular thing and at the end of the trip I have traveled a great variety of destinations, scenarios and possibilities in my mind. That doesn't sound at all like a clear mind (although it is possible to achieve it with a conscious effort), but it does sound like an abundance of ideas.

At this point someone could tell me that from a bunch of random ideas you can’t get quality content, that not all ideas are suficient to write a post, much less ensure that it can capture the attention of readers. The truth is that the apparent lack of ideas is not the only reason why I have not written much lately. After a productive start at steemit I saw myself doing my best every day to write content but without receiving much attention or the profits I expected. That discouraged me a little so I decided to took a time to evaluate how to proceed in the future. I believe in this platform, but as everything that is worth it is necessary to have patience, to persevere and above all to develop oneself to have what it takes to succeed. I've been reading other bloggers, trying to learn from them and to decipher the code behind a successful post.

It is possible to find all kinds of useful tips out there, some focused on the form, use of images, flashy titles, etc., I have learned that the thing that makes the readers stay until the end of an article and become followers is the ability to reach their hearts and capture their interest. The mistake that many of us make is to present mere information (no doubt there must be an audience for this) but it isn’t enough. People respond or react positively when we share a little of what is in our mind and heart, and this is when a bunch of random ideas resulting from a short walk or our interaction with others can be very useful. Those ideas that may seem too simple but deeply personal abound within each one of us and are the raw material to become a prolific writer. The proof of what I am saying is what you are reading right now. When I woke up this morning, I had no idea that I would write about this topic today, and I usually spent days planning what to write and doing some research (practices that I have not discarded). The point is that our mind is a sea of ideas that we can access if we pay attention to them, but it is necessary to leave the comfort zone and work. If I want to succeed here, I must force myself to write and develop the necessary discipline.

Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.

Some of the posts from @tarazkp have helped me in this time of reflection about my content and today he launched a daily content development challenge which you can read here and that has motivated me to make a conscious and constant effort to develop my ability to write quality posts.
