Tears Don't Last forever

Smith woke up from sleep stretched and saw Diana still laying beside him and he looked up and smiled to himself finally he had found happiness, and this is for real. He has just tied the knot with Diana the previous day and everything was just happening like a dream.

Come to think of it some few years ago precisely June 2013 his was in an awkward moment in his life. He has just lost his job with a multinational telecoms company due to downsizing and his then fiancée Ada was not helping matters as she became more of a nag as the day go by demanding for things he could not afford and mocked him after wards when he could not provide the funds. He could remember vividly what transpired between him and her on Wednesday 26th June 2013 and the effect and emotional trauma it gave him. He has just returned from job hunting at about 3pm when he got a call from his eldest brother that Princely his elder brother had died in his sleep. Smith was from a family of 6, 3 girls and 3 boys and he was the 5th child of the family. Princely was his closest elder brother and the third child of the family. He had always looked up to Princely for approval in all that he did as he saw him as an ideal elder brother. They went through the hard times and the good times together he could remember when he was in his third year in the university Princely had to send him the last 5000 Naira in his account to save him from starving in school. While he thought about the good times and the bad times they had tears started dropping from his eyes and he couldn’t hold the pain he felt inside.

That was when his phone rang, and it was Ada he picked up the call hoping to get some comfort from her voice but no, she started with the statement “Baby you have not sent the Brazilian hair money I asked, if you don’t want to give it to me just tell me so I can source for the money elsewhere”. He tried to tell her that he has just lost his brother to the cold hands of death, but she wasn’t listening, she just shouted angrily and dropped the call and he was left in anguish to wallow in pain and loneliness by the one he taught would bring relief to his pain.

Some few days after the burial of Princely having parted ways with Ada he decided to find some closure, so he traveled to Abuja to see his friend and take his mind away from the happenings of recent months, that was when he met Diana. He could still remember how confused he was when he saw her coming into the Shop-rite shopping mall (they had gone there for shopping). He could not contain his surprise and excitement at seeing a pretty dark lady who looked so simple with her skin radiating like the morning sun. He walked up to her and amid stammers he waved and said my name is Smith and it is nice to meet you. She was receptive to his gesture and they exchanged numbers and that was how their journey of love started.

The past few days has been hectic but finally he can now look at the face of his happiness laying like a beautiful ship in still waters, his joy knew no bound. Diana ached and stretched then open her eyes and planted a kiss on his face and said, “from the moment I met you I knew I would never stop loving you I love baby”. Smith smiled and told her that he loved her too and from that moment he knew that his teardrops and sorrow has been turned to Joy and happiness and that nature has smiled on him.
