Modeled Drawing in Watercolor Exercise With Examples

I will continue posting on here as most of my followers seem to still be here however will move to hive over time.
Today, I am sharing with you some modeled drawings in watercolor examples. This exercise is not about trying to paint with watercolor it's trying to draw with it like you would with a pen and pencil. Most watercolor techniques attract your attention to the surface of the object and not the core of the object you need to understand.

Below are examples of some watercolor pieces following this exercise I have done.

You use a darker watercolor where the form goes back and lighter color where the form goes towards you.

These are some paintings of ornaments that were around the house.

If the paint is going everywhere you are using too much water. Reducing the amount of water you use and applying the paint more thickly avoids this. The less water you use the more control you will have over the medium.
The foundation to good painting is good drawing which is why this exercise becomes so important and practice necessary. As Leonardo said, the supreme misfortune is when theory outstrips performance.

Thanks for checking this post and supporting my work :)

That is very nice, I think people can use watercolor for more precise drawing too and to tell the truth the result is really good. Both technique very loose and more dry brush have their positive and negative sides. Seeing the colors I even thought that you used coffee for painting.

I am not commenting regular but I am always following your Art Ian, I also think that many people are still here and using Steemworld it is easy to manage the account too. @stemmchiller is going to be a witness therefore if you still have place in your witness list you can like us vote for him. Wish you good week!

Thanks Stef, I agree you can have some amazing results with more of a wet brush as well. Worth experimenting with the two techniques.

Good to hear you're still here and yes Steemworld is very useful. I want to support the new platform because it is more decentralised and censorship resistant so will post there but will also continue here for the time being as a lot of the community is still here. I will make sure to vote him because he has been very useful.
