The real question here is simple: how narcissistic does one have to be to listen to their own music?
So here’s the thing. Despite getting more and more gear, I’ve slowed down significantly in terms of how much music I’ve made.
Part of that has to do with life in general. Having a kid. Work. Life in general. All that stuff.
The other thing is, my most prolific period of music making is also the period I would describe as having no clue how to make the sound I had in my head.
So this track is something I’m proud of inevitability. I used to make glitchy music, but that was really a result of finding it easier to destroy sound than make something coherent. This track was kind of a turning point for me. Not fully into techno, but baby steps and one of the first times I felt like an idea was executed like I wanted.
I’ve grown out of this sound, but it’s a nostalgic night and I’m digging it at the moment despite all the flaws I hear.

I always paired you with more industrial and raw sounds, so after this tune I'm curious how old it might be :)
Had to go back and figure that out myself. 2013 it turns out. Kind of nice going back and seeing how much things have changed. There are certain aspects that I feel are still very much me. I’m a huge fan of the soft synth Aalto and the sound of that synth is still on nearly every record I make. I’d like to think I still try and make things sort of melancholic, but I’ve been deliberately trying to move away from that in the past year. I’ve still got a preference for kicks without a lot of top end snap as well. Fun going back and revisiting this one.

yep, its always cool to take a journey back to the old days and revisit some of your old hobbies. I always enjoy to watch my old drawings or thinking about my skateboarding activities. its so bad that I didnt have opportunity to capture everything and make it last forever, like you did with your music.
