Finally making the plunge into Modular!
I sold my soul a little this past week and took a DJ gig that paid decently enough but is a fairly miserable experience to play. Casino gigs might pay some bills, but that’s not really why I do this. Playing pop and country for people who don’t want to dance is not how I want to pass an evening, but at least I got to catch up with some friends I hadn’t seen in a while and drop some Toto.
But, since the money I get from DJing is put back into making music, I found myself with an opportunity to pick up my first Modular Synth. A Blue Lantern Evila. Blue Lantern has moved into the Eurorack world lately, but this small run boutique synth was too good to pass up for the price.
Now just comes the fun of waiting to get my patch cables in the mail so I can dig into this thing. Very excited to get into this world and I’ll be posting my first experiments with it this weekend. I’ve got a full two weeks of music making while my wife and son are out of town visiting family, so I can’t wait to put this thing through it’s paces.
