My University friends had been craving for some desi food for quite a long time now, including me as well. We have repeatedly tried BBQ, Fastfood and other food items in the past couple of months. So our taste buds were literally starving for some desi food.

Although there are many resturants in Karachi that claim to have the 'best' desi food, but honestly none of them are that good. One thing you need to know about desi food is that the cuisine we have here in Pakistan is originally from India. For centuries we have lived together. We have many cuisines that we have adopted from India. To be honest, I believe that even today the real taste can only be found in India. But, there was an opening of a new restaurant recently in Karachi, named, Mirchili, who claimed to have Indian cuisines. So we all decided to have a go at this restaurant.

The restaurant had a good cozy seating arrangement. There were a lot of things on the menu and all of them had origin from India. There were even some names on the menu that I couldn't even pronounce correctly due to the language difference. The menu had a lot of options, from spicy cuisines to sweet dishes. The drinks had variety as well, for example; *Lassi and Soft drinks etc.

We were in awe looking at the menu. There were a couple of reasons for that. Firstly, there was a huge variety of dishes and secondly, we couldn't pronounce a lot of the dishes correctly. Anyway, after a 15 minute consultation we all decided to order different cuisines so that we could taste more dishes. We ordered:

The food was way better than we all expected. Honestly I thought that this restaurant might turn out to be like those resturants who claim to have original Indian food but Mirchili exceeded our expectations by a fair margin. The Dosas were properly cooked. The chicken and the Masala(Spices) inside the the Dosa was in perfect quantity. The Pani Puri and the Dahi Puri were heavenly. These dishes are eaten with spicy water which has a taste of its own. It was absolutely perfect. The only thing that could have been better was Idli Bagara. It was a bit undercooked but still it tasted very good.

The ambience of the restaurant was outstanding. Nit to loud and not to silent. There were a couple of groups seated alongside us in the Resturant. The walls were painted beautifully with the air conditioner working perfectly.

The staff could have been better. The restaurant wasn't overcrowded but still the waiters seemed a bit sluggish. They were taking their fair share of time in recieving our orders. But the quality of the food was worth handling anything in this restaurant.

The food was moderately pocket friendly. It wasn't too expensive but it wasn't cheap as well. And for someone like me who likes to taste new and different dishes, I didn't mind paying anything for the food.
