Buildings and Canals, Architecture of Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one of those cities you can spend countless hours just wondering the streets and canals and seeing the narrow buildings upon narrow buildings lined up along the canals.
Each of the buildings has its unique signature design, and not one is the same. Many of them were constructed back in the 1600s and 1700s ... which you can see since some of the buildings have shifted slightly, most likely due to the weight of the building and the instability of the ground below.
As a fine artist myself, I can see why many paintings and artists decided to use Amsterdam city as a cityscape subject matter. It's got lots of contrasting colors and interest of subject matter from the buildings, to the canals, the trees, and the boats.
