Drawing A Portrait Using Graphit Pencils

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 years ago

Hello Steemian!

A few days ago, I read a post of @axeman who made a contest THE WORLF OF XPILAR- B&W PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #092
So that made me interested in participating in this contest and I chose traditional art.

In this contest, I drew a portrait of Lalisa who is one of the popular Blackpink personnel using a graphite pencils on A3 size BC paper. It's been a long time since I've made a bigger drawing. So it takes a long time to finish this work which is for 3 days.

This is really interesting and I like it so much that it makes it a little more detailed even though the results are not quite what I expected and are less similar to the reference photo. But it doesn't matter because of that I'm motivated to keep working and learn more to get the results like I want.

As I said above that I haven't made a larger size in a long time so when I made a sketch, I couldn't adjust the scale of the picture and the scale of the paper I was using so a lot of space was wasted because the sketch was a little small, I wanted to change it but I thought it will take a lot time. To made this sketch I used a B pencil.

I started shading the face first starting from the eyebrows, eyes, nose and lips. Then I moved on to the hair section. Here the process is very complicated. Because hair is a part that is difficult to draw for some people, including me. That's why I often learn to draw hair separately. The pencil used must also be level 5B to 8B so that it is darker than the others.

Next I shaded the face with an HB and 2B pencil by adjusting it like the reference picture.

After finishing drawing the face, I moved on to the neck

And lastly, I drew her clothes with a darker pencil as well as the hair. And don't forget to blending it using cotton, brush and stamp bending.

To make the background, I used a pencil that I had scraped off with sand paper and then rubbed it with cotton.

That is the step by step process of drawing this portrait. Hope you like it and thank you for reading and supporting my blog. See you on next post
