NO MICRO MAMAGEMENT. LEARNING THROUGH DELEGATION

This week, I have the privilege of hosting over 100 students and their supervisors for a symposium, which in large part has been organized by the students themselves with my guidance. Guidance is the correct word, because that's the only thing I've really done here.

By handing over all responsibility to the students, and by allowing them to make their mistakes, they are learning in ways a micromanagement would never achieve.

I have seen the emergence of talented leaders, capable of taking matters into their own hands together with the tough decisions. It's one of the best scientific meetings I've been to so far.

My advice, stop micromanaging those working with you and allow them to apply the skills and strengths they have.
