Trip to La La Land
Well, what's up with men and their sudden plans? In a jiffy, you decide to explore one of the best places in the world and all you do the next day is pack up and leave. Women need more time to plan their outfits right? And husbands don't understand why there is a necessity to pack so many things. This is how my trip to Los Angeles was planned and I regret not because it has been one of the most memorable trips of a lifetime. Hubby thinks he's a great planner now.Ha ha.!!
"Hollywood frenzy, laid-back weather, iconic palm trees, glitzy downtown and dreamy Disneyland - LOS ANGELES is breathtakingly beautiful."
Day 1: When in LA, the famous "Hollywood Sign" is what needs to be on your itinerary first. So we drove through Hollywood that had exotic houses on hilly roads and for the first timer in US, like me, the sight is pretty magnificent. The excitement to just jump out of the car and get the good focus of the sign for pictures, gradually slows down as you see tourists pour in, lack-of parking space and the Christmas weekend saga comes in. Well, when you are a tourist, you do the touristy thing. Wait patiently and get the best out of it. Simple!
Los Angeles is one of the hottest fashion destinations in the world since it houses most Hollywood stars. All the hush-hush news about who wears what at the award functions that happen here, truly makes LA at the fashion best. So while at LA, be dressed!! I choose to wear my Forever 21 bodycon dress with lacy stockings ( December's are no fun for dresses ) and black biker charm boots. I threw on a red trench coat ( currently my all time fav ) to beat the chill like a pro. A pop of colour like red with a subdued look adds enough attention to the entire look.
The day 1 evening was reserved for a studio tour at the Warner Brothers Studios. This place has some iconic movie shots taken here in studios and has stages for most famous shows like "FRIENDS", "THE ELLEN GENERES SHOW", "HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER" and many sit-coms and films. The happiest and most worthy time here was to grab a cuppa at the "Central Perk" cafe from the famous "FRIENDS" sit-com. Spending quality time here, being married to the best friend of my life was closest to my heart.
Day 2: My inner child's fantasy of experiencing what is called as a dreamland- "fairies sprinkling pixie-dust and falling star on a Disney castle" came alive and true when I walked into a gorgeous place - DISNEYLAND! Wait, it's just not a kid's adventure place, as an adult I fell in love with everything that looked and felt so magical and oh how I missed watching my Disney characters. I was spellbound with the massiveness of every structure that has been carved artistically and influenced by every Disney production characters. Well, there are too many things that I want to express about my time here at Disneyland, but let me put down few best experiences. ( or you'll hate me being too draggy and dramatic ).
Disneyland has two parks - Disney California Adventure and Disneyland. These are two widespread parks with lots of fun-to-do adventure, Disney shops with apparels, accessories and stationeries, few really worthy fun-rides, food stalls and restaurants and cute little street shops. From our first experience here, we took tickets for both the parks and had only one day to complete both of them. We were guided by friends that it would be tough to finish both, but we were greedy to experience both in a day. My best advice would be to allocate two full days to enjoy Disneyland, because there is so much to see, be amazed off and experience every possible thing-to-do here.
Nevertheless, we tightened our shoelaces and started hopping into all fun-rides. Since it was a long Christmas weekend, tourists were flooding in large numbers and each ride had a minimum of a half-an-hour wait. A Disney app and a map ( given at the entrance ) can save your time if you are smart enough to locate places. Spots for your favourite rides can be allocated on the app and a special line would be assigned for pre-booked slots. We managed to finish all rides in Disney California Adventure park and hopped on to Disneyland for second-half-of-the-day.
Running around these acres of the park can be tiring but every sight at Disneyland is worth the wait and pain. The other Disneyland park is a visual treat for the eyes with dreamy and amazingly lit castles and street shows. As we were so lucky to have gone on a Christmas Eve, Disneyland was prettier than it could be. Beautiful parades and Christmas carols transported me to a heavenly illusion of a dreamland. We could not cover much of the fun-to-do adventure here because we were in awe of everything that caught our eyes - dramatically mesmerizing.
A beautiful end to our Disneyland trip was the must-watch phenomenal FIREWORKS that lit the night skies and made every fellow fall in love with it. Couldn't dream of a better Christmas Eve than this.
The very thought of visiting Disneyland made me pick an outfit that could make me feel like a kid again. And what better than a Pink Shirt Dress and Furry Boots, because little girl's love pink right? Well, I did love pink till red occupied my mind after my teens. Pink is flattering, feminine, dreamy and princessy. Since visiting Disneyland involved a lot of fun activities, a more casual and comfy shirt dress found the perfect fit for a day-long adventure.
Day 3: The last day of our trip left us exhausted with Disneyland hangover and we barely had the energy to wake up at sunrise and head over for some new explorations. Did I mention that Los Angeles has some fabulous beaches around and yes, a beach idea on a no-energy day is meant to just chill over and relax. So "VENICE BEACH" is where we headed over to calm down our otherwise tired nerves. Oh wow, one of the coolest beaches I have ever been. The sight of people just chilling like a pro with bicycles and skater boards leave you feeling so lively and energetic. Venice looks like a piece of art painted in different colours, with graffiti walls, spray-painted roads, colourful artists, impressive singers and jazzy people. Is there any way you can miss a sunset while on a beach, leave alone other plans because beaches and sunsets are amazingly picturesque. And we followed the same! Watching a beautiful sunset from a beach-side restaurant. I would definitely go back again!
Beaches in winter are windy and cold and picking up a skimpy outfit is like being "out-of-your-mind" way. Choosing what to wear at this season can be tricky. Jeans and coats are too boring for a beach stroll, so I opted for Cropped Chambray Overalls with slits that look edgy and shimmery footwear that adds enough glitz to the outfit. To keep myself warm and cosy, I choose to layer it with an eye catchy retro vibe red Leather Jacket. By now you know that my love for red is never-ending!
It is said, "Sometimes wrong choices bring us to right places". I eventually thought sudden plans to distant places was a bad idea, which in turn was a happy one. Los Angeles, you are fabulous and I will come back to you for sure, there is so much left un-explored and unseen. And my dear readers, if you have ended up till this line, I love you more. Keep coming back again!
