The most common problem that people face is forming new habits is the lack of consistency. When we take consistent action the heavy feeling will become lighter, especially when self-discipline kicks in.

It is also important not to beat yourself up if you miss a day, you just make sure to carry on with it the next day and taking action as by acting on forming the habit, we can look back and see how far we have come and the more action we take the closer we become to forming the habit and it becoming part of us.

And do you know what? You can make consistency easy - if you don't take anything else away from this series of posts, but this one piece of advice to consistently take action.

The key is to love what we do, have fun with it and this will make building self-discipline much more fun and easier too.

How?

Make it a game for yourself. Create small targets that are just a little bit challenging, a little step and when you reach each target, pick an appropriate award, which could be food, a luxurious bath, a read of a favorite book - anything that will help encourage you to carry on.

When you try to be creative with target setting and the rewards that you choose, it stands you in good stead to master self-discipline.

When the habit is formed (from your consistent action) you can stop rewarding yourself and move onto the next habit or trait you would like to see in yourself.

Prepare, Plant, Care

By doing all the steps outlined in this series of articles in earnest, you will come to a point where you will not need so much attention, focus, and energy to form a new habit.

Self-discipline is a side product of forming new habits and you can use your newly found self-discipline to pursue goals that you'd really like to achieve in your life.

You can look at forming self-discipline like planting rice. You need superior seeds for sowing and after you plant it you need to give it care and attention until the plant is ready to be harvested,

Now repeat with each new habit, you'd like to form.

So, in these last four posts, we have looked at how you can build self-discipline into your life. The simplest and easiest way I know how. You need to know, self-discipline is formed through a series of processes, takes time and effort. It can not be built in the blink of an eye.

Indeed to be a discipline is difficult. If we start from the smallest thing. If we can not discipline in small things. Definitely not as disciplined as you would expect. If I think so. If the smallest thing can not be disciplined. Especially in the big thing.
