From 22 to 8 pigs? Sound like someone has been eating a lot of pork. Do you do anything to feed all your birds? We have no where near that many but we farm mealworms and composting worms to cut back cost. We feed both to our chickens and pigs. I only spend around 1 hour a week managing my mealworm farm that produces 100k mealworms a week. I have a couple articles I have started writing about it and I also run a Facebook group for mealworms. Just something that I thought may be of interest to you and may help cut back cost while producing extra frass from the mealworms and castings from the composting worms that you can use in your gardens.
We have been selling the pigs to people looking to raise there own.
The mealworms sound interesting and only around an hour a week. That's awesome! How long does it take to get set up to the point where you are only spending around an hour a week on them?
The only thing that matters is rotation. If you can stay on top of your rotation every week it is very simple to manage. I wrote a couple articles on it so far if you are interested and I run a Facebook group if you are on Facebook. All the links are in my article. I know some people don't like links being posted so I don't post them but you can find it in my blog area. I don't have very many written so it should be easy enough. The time getting setup is mainly in waiting for your worms to morph into beetles and start laying eggs. You can start with worms, pupa or beetles though.
