KEEP YOUR 100K TRACTOR, I'LL TAKE $400-$500 IN ELECTRIC NETTING AND PIGS

in #dtube8 years ago

We don't have a tractor or tillers on HOP farm. We do it with a plan some animals and a little time. We use electric netting for our pigs. Moving them around with the netting make sure to observe the ground on a dally basis. You don't want the pigs in there to long because they will end up compacting the ground and digging BIG holes. But make sure you leave them in there long enough to turn the soil over and eat the grass and roots. About a week after moving the pigs out we move chicken in that spot to do a finer till of the soil. The chickens are also helping to fertilize the area. After the chickens leave we mulch the spot with any thing from wood chips, hay, straw or leaves. Make sure to mulch. Mother nature is modest and will find a way to cover her soil if you don't. :)

      THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!!

Oh yea and BACON!! Can't get that out of a tractor. lol.:)

Thank you @mountainjewl. I love learning on how nature can work for me. Especially when you can replace a depreciating piece of Machinery with appreciating animals.

I do pretty much the same thing with my chickens.

I used to use only chickens before I got pigs. Now the chickens do more of a detail work for me like over specific garden beds. The pigs tend to do a quicker job then the chickens and don't leave any big weeds behind that you still have to pull out
