Monastic School

IN PICTURES: Phaung Daw Oo Monastic School, which won the Citizen of Burma Award this year, opens the new academic year on June 1, like other government schools across the country. The free monastic school has had about 9,000 students enrolled each year, including orphans, ethnic children, monks and nuns. It continues with the help of donors and it has been learned that there is a need for funding for its long-term sustainability.
