It's easy to be happy.

I'm happy.

And there isn't any particular reason for it. Maybe I'm happy because I spent the morning with my family, putting up the Christmas tree.
Maybe it's the fact that it's almost Christmas. It's Christmas eve eve, which, I realized, can be any day if you add enough eve's to it.
Maybe I'm happy because it's my best friend's birthday. I think that's what triggered it. See, I spent most of last night making her a video, a slide of images of us together through the years. And while doing that, I realized how lucky I am to have such a good friend. To have someone like her in my life. It made me so happy and I woke up in a very good mood, which I've kept up throughout the day. It was only compounded, of course, by spending time with my family and having fun.

And somewhere today, I realized the title of this post. It's so easy to be happy. See, I don't like big flashy Christmas ornaments. I prefer small things, handmade things. And the thing is, you don't need those big flashy stuff for your tree to look pretty. Nor do you need them for your life to look pretty. Happiness is easy. It's like one two three.

I'm happy because it's 10c outside, which is the warmest it's been in a few weeks.
I'm happy not because everything is easy, but despite everything not being easy. Except for happiness. Happy is easy. But it's a choice and the trouble is, I think, many people get caught up in making that choice. Makes sense, no?

Elton John has these wonderful lyrics that go like this ~

How wonderful life is, now you're in the world

And I think about them sometimes and I make a mental list about all the things and all the people in my life to whom those lyrics apply to. And the thing is, if you have at least one, you can be happy.

It's easy. Because that's all it takes.
