How Winter Changes The Landscape
I find the changes between the seasons to be quite dramatic. None more than between autumn and spring. Not just the major changes such as high winds felling trees or railways being swept away. I live near a sandy beach. One year a quarter of the beach lost its sand which took 4 years to return. An amazing amount of time considering that the sand went away overnight.
This post is about how other things can change over the course of one winter. It demonstrates the power of the sea to be able to carry heavy stones in its waves and dump them high onto the beach.
This first image shows part of the beach in the summer. Lovely smooth red sand.
The next picture is the beach after the winter. In between the two shots, there were loads of seaweed dumped onto the beach that miraculously disappeared without a trace.
Unfortunately, these stones have to be removed by man as the sea is uncooperative when it comes to collecting its stones. Tourists don't like the stones!
