How many Alpha cards have been printed? How many cards are left? Weekly Analysis for Steem Monsters

in #steemmonsters6 years ago

The first image we see above is how many individual alpha cards remain, uncombined, as time has progressed. We are seeing a dwindling supply in alpha cards, in just four weeks, with, on average, about 33% of the original supply (since I started taking numbers) having been combined.

This scarcity of cards has definitely increased the value of these on the secondary market, and as more people attempt to max level their alpha cards, we will continue to see this supply drop, due to the fact that the overwhelming majority of Alpha Booster Packs have been opened.

One question I have of my data this week is as follows:

How many alpha cards, in total have been printed?

But wasn't there mean't to be only 300,000 Alpha packs? That's correct, the above figures do not take into account Alpha cards printed from Starter Sets (when these were alpha) - and any special tier KickStarter / Fundition Awards where players would be awarded one of each alpha card.

I do not have exact figures on how many Alpha packs were sold, and we know that a number of individuals hold a large number of unopened Alpha Boosters, however I do not know what those figures are, exactly.

Last time I spoke with @aggroed about this, it was reasoned that there was about ~2500 Alpha Starter sets sold. However, some of these had 10 cards, some had more. This complicates the mathematics. Should someone be able to identify how many Starter packs were sold, and how many cards were in each starter pack at the time, we could arrive at an accurate number of how many alpha cards should have been printed.

Onto the usual reporting!

What has been the most combined, rarity by rarity?

There seems to be some sort of anomaly in the data here, with the Water Elemental and Frozen Soldier appearing to increase in supply, rather than decrease. As I pull this data manually, the integrity here is probably comprimised by me doing a fat fingering, or something.

It will level out as I continue to pull this data each week.

I hope you enjoyed this week's analysis, looking at the supply levels for Alpha, Regular Foil cards, and the combination rates. Data is gathered each Sunday, local time for me (here in Australia) and placed into a spreadhseet which then has data and graphs analysed by a series of pivot tables.

This is at present a manual process, though I hope to automate my work on this in the future (and in turn, increase the report's accuracy.)

If you enjoyed, or found this data useful, please consider up voting it. I'd also accept donations of cards in lieu of upvotes if you're low on voting power, or resource credits.

Thanks for reading, and see you all next week!

Interesting break-down ... I look forward to the next.

Could those increases be from pack openings?
