holoz0r plays Pillars of Eternity: Part X

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

The tenth installment in my adventuring through Pillars of Eternity is here, and it is not what is expected. Its more of a house keeping session, catching up on quests, upgrading inventory holdings; and running backwards and forwards like a maniac. (This was the main thing I did this session!)

By this point, I feel pretty rich. I have 34,428 gold. That's not bad, but look at the price of those meals! How can anyone afford to eat in Pillars of Eternity? This a serious economic problem, and may explain the unrest and intrigue that everyone has; these merchants are charging far too much for food. That, or dragon meat is made from actual dragons, in which case, I'd love to see what sweet loot they drop later.

I get assailed by assassins once more; and dispatch them. I still have no clues where they are coming from, but I am happy to kill them and take their armor, weapons, and loot to sell to people later on down the track. I will win this gold game, but I don't know how much I'm after at the end of the day. Probably one million gold will suffice. We'll see.

I've also collected that dagger for the child, and given the little shit the item. I thoroughly enjoyed killing some adventurers in the tavern in order to do that. I've been advancing the way I work in combat. Pausing, assessing the scenario, and learning about some FOE-Only based AOE. Its the best kind, because then Gherk won't get killed by Aloth's wayward spells.

In exchange for the act of giving the dagger to the child that request possession of it, he tells me of a hidden secret near the actors theater. Beneath a loose stone, as promised, I do find a legitimate piece of treasure, a device that allows me to summon creatures, for free, once per rest. This sounds like an awesome deal, so I put it in the inventory of my ranger. I'm going to have an incredible army of companions floating around with me, and I'm going to rest constantly to take advantage of this, especially in the field.

I have the added benefit of my chanter now being able to summon three baby wurms in combat, which means that soon, I will have such a large contingent with me, that I will be able to handle any group of foes. I will get there. I will! I get to the bottom of a mystery involving some armor, after more running backwards and forth; and end up killing the wearer of the armor. I take the armor, and return it to its rightful owner, handing it over, broken bloodied and stained, to which no one comments regarding its condition.

I end up back at the graveyard, specifically in a mausoleum; where I'm tracking a missing girl. I find her, then trigger a horrific trap that I suspected, but did not detect, revealing some trinkets in the sarcophagus. One of these is a trinket that summons little beasties to fight for me. More critters for the army of Gherk.

There's more people missing in other regions of town, and I am going to track them all down before moving on to the next place, hopefully, another level higher.
