From Denmark to China by bike #23 (Landmines, wild boars?! A small wasteland)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

A whole day with nothing but a road going straight forever and ever. Sounds boring? It was anything but boring! A few looks left and right was all you would need to see some cool sights a long the way!

Houses like this one was all over the place, some bigger, some burned down, some just looked like they have fallen apart. I really need to ask somebody why they have so many '' ruins'' all over the country.

It was all in the details

The atmosphere is something I would love to describe but I know I would fail trying. But there's something about biking through this raw, hot, environment of emptiness, it kind of makes you feel like a bad ass but at the same time leaves a bit concerned about a few things such as:

L-l-landmines?! No wonder I didn't see any people walking around out here.

Wild boars, another thing I'm not used to at the home of safe Denmark. I biked by one and I was almost shitting myself because it was so close, only to find out it was dead:( not really worth a picture.

If you bike far enough, any road will end and so did this one.

It was quite a experience hard to describe in words. When I started to leave that beautiful perfect coast, I did not expect to see and bike through what I did these last couple of days. But in the end that's why I bike, because the future will always be unexpected. I tend to plan 1 or 2 days a head of my trip so surprises are everywhere.

eventually I got back to the coast again and with the next city in sight where I'm staying for a rest day on a Hostel.

I hope you guys enjoyed my small adventure through the lands of Croatia. Soon I will be heading with the coast again toward Montenegro, a country I have heard very good stories about, so maybe I can find some good stories of my own?

Stay awesome!

I appreciate your kind words! Really glad you liked it! Your not the first one to call me insane ;)

Haha - not totally insane - just a little bit mad ;)

Great pictures, I really like

As always, great post!

Maybe i can help you with the ruins question! :) Most of them are either from the civil war in the early 90is when Yugoslavia was splitting apart or they serve just for quick shade for the sheep.

One more thing, before you get to the Montenegro (which truly has a nice coast) you'll have Bosnia and Herzegovina. A small part by the sea with one town - Neum. It's a good place to buy something or grab something to eat because it's really cheap and they take all currencies :) After this short Bosnian territory you'll get back to Croatia and continue your trip to Montenegro. You could skip this border pass but you'll have to take a ferry in a town called Ploče to do that.

I'm so happy I have you as a follower! Haha! Thanks for the tips! Yeah I noticed I will shortly get into Bosnia, but should not be a problem since it's eu right? I have notes Neum on my map as I will remember to drop by! Thanks a lot!

Well Bosnia is not part of EU so they might check your bags but i doubt they will. It shouldn't be a problem it's really a nice and friendly country with friendly people but as in all countries ... you can always get a police officer who is having a bad day :)

Amazing photos again, the views!

Thanks a lot Mate!

awesome, incredible picture with the long road

We seem to have the same taste for pictures ;) haha
