This guy is really the world's most eligible bachelor!
I am not joking, as he is without any doubt the world's most eligible bachelor. He is not a human though. In fact he is the last surviving male of his specie. His name is Sudan, and he is a Northern white rhinoceros [1].
Northern white rhinoceros is basically a sub-specie of White rhinoceros, with the other one being Southern white rhinoceros [2]. Fortunately, there are still plenty of Southern white rhinoceros left in the wild. On the other hand, there are only 3 Northern white rhinoceros left. So, besides, Sudan, there are only two females alive from this specie.
What has caused the almost extinction of Nothern white rhinoceros?
According to [3], it is due to the extensive poaching of these animals for their horns, in Sudan and Congo. What didn't also help is their gestation period of over 18 months, meaning they couldn't reproduce fast enough to replace the lost rhinos.
Can we save Northern white rhinoceros from extinction?
Well, Sudan is getting old, as he was born in 1973, which makes him around 45 years old. Due to this old age, he is almost certain not to mate, due to his weakening legs and ever lowering sperm count [4]. Being the last male survivor of his specie, he is heavily guarded from poachers. Now, with natural breeding out of question, scientists are trying to use IVF and stem-cell technology to prevent extinction of this specie [5].
Its really sad that we humans are destroying this world and killing these beautiful animals for our own selfish gains. Isn't it? I hope scientists are successful in saving this majestic animal from extinction.

The methods and policy required for the success which will be put in place before the last Northern white rhino dies or killed then their lives would be saved

Unfortunately human being is like this.. For making males more rich and females more beautiful, everything in the world and nature are misused.. When they will understand that a horn is necessary for this animal not for people..
Sudan is so alone in this world now. Hopefully IVF will be successful then we still can introduce white rhinoceros to our kids
