ULOG # 023 | Ulogging Against All Odds
Greetings, dear Steemians and Uloggers
I have been struggling to stay connected. Yesterday we had an electrical problem at home that translated into the power line that comes from the light post to the house going off (or whatever tech terminology is used in that case). The thing is that we were the only house in the block without electricity.
We spent all night dialing the electrical company to no avail.
They did not even answer the phone. In previous occasions, it took them hours to respond but they ended up coming and fixing the problem. People say the crisis they are facing is unprecedented: no vehicles, no personnel (many have left the country), no equipment, low salaries (no motivation).
We spent the whole night killing mosquitoes. When we got out in the morning we were met with another big problem: Someone had stolen the water meter. It is the new thing now in town. Some people are stealing anything made of copper, aluminum or bronze. So any pipe slightly exposed is at risk now. There we were with a river coming out of our part of the sidewalk, innundating the street (as if the sewage water was not enough). We called the water company. Nothing.
I called a friend who is handy man. He could not fix it. We decided to visit the main office of Hidro Caribe. They were not sure they would be able to take care of the problem. They did not have vehicles available. There was this guy already out on duty who might be in my area.
So I called the guy and he was effectively nearby. Here it was this young man, walking the town, representing a water company gonet bankrupt, with no proper equipment to respond to people's cries for help. I had to procure the pipe needed to improvise a bypass. The original piece could not be replaced, they did not have any, and it was way too expensive for me to get one.
So imagine what it means to be without the basic utility services, especially considering that the internet and phone services have been constantly failing.
Up to this time (after 23 hours) electricity has not been restored, water is coming out dirty from faucets, i had to walk 40 mins to an aunt's apartment to write this (lots of neighbors with similar limitations) and we'll probably sleep out to avoid another sleepless night killing mosquitoes.
And our local government has the guts to promote our state as a "touristic economic power house."
If only they could invest as much money in the main service companies as they have wasted in propaganda!

Dear sir!
It happens with most of us.today you are facing electricity problem other day other one. Due to lack of electricity we have to face many problems as connecting internet ,water supply ,in fact our daily basis uses depend on electricity. it is a serious matter.
Yes, it is. It looks like there is a long road ahead before we can talk about a real globalized (fully connected) world.
The gap between those who have (all the resources and advantages availbale) and those who don't keeps widening in some parts of the world.
I feel for you. Our city , as well as our country , is submerged in induced ineffectiveveness and decay.
Hi, there. Thanks for stopping by. Yes, this mess has been cruely intentional. It' s easier to step on people when you reduce them to animalistic state

STOPHola, @hlezama.
