WORK IS A PROOF OF FAITH

in #christianity7 years ago

We are save by grace through faith. Grace does not exempt us from work as some people erroneously believe. Grace only emphasizes that we should reckon God as the One who empowers us to do what we are able to do and look unto Him continually rather than look unto our skill or effort for succour. Grace does not abandon our own work to God, for God will never do for us what we should do. If you will not work and all you do is pray, you get nothing.

Faith works. The working of faith is the living faith The living faith is an active faith. Ezra believed in the restoration of the temple in Jerusalem and went to work. He prayed and they received favour from the king but they also worked. Nehemiah was committed to the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. He prayed and exercised faith, God answered his prayers of faith for supplies and the kings ordered the provision of all the materials they needed and also gave instructions that the money be released from the royal treasury for further supplies. He and the rest of the returnees went to work to rebuild the walls.

Grace does not absolve us from work. Rather, it enables us to do it. Paul expressed this truth in 1 Corinthians 15: 10. He said he laboured more abundantly by the grace that was upon him. He was a bi-vocational minister in spite of his rigorous ministerial schedules. Little wonder that he was bold enough to declare in 2 Thessalonians 3:10; that he who does not work should not eat.

May God help us to become committed to the works of our hands as we exercise our faith in Christ Jesus....(AMEN)

I must ask if work is faith, then why is it that so many people do not have to work?

In example, Inheritance funds. Did their parents work so hard that their faith rubbed down upon them? they do not work yet they eat... better than most in the world do.

What about those who have never done actual work, just sat behind a computer and gained fortune in that way? Is their non labor, worth more than another's extreme labor?

In the United States we 'millennials' have been taught since we were very young children that you work hard, go to college, and you will live a good life... yet that is not so. you work hard, go to college, get out and find a job that pays $10.00/hr for a masters degree.

It is hard to accept this because these words do not show true in today's society, and we 'millennials' had no say in the design of todays economic infrastructure.

In example we had no say in the petrodollar, nor the terms that were laid out with it, nor did we have a say in the devaluation of trades nationwide, the list can go on and on.

The hardest working men and women in this country, make the least amount of money and eat the least amount of food.

unless god intended for those who have extreme faith, to suffer the most, then i must say nay to this.

I want to believe the message was interpreted in the right context. Work as a prove of faith is not a test for economy balances. These imbalances as you have listed in your examples have always been in existence since the fall of man. Work as a proof of faith is acknowledging God's given grace that empowers us to do what we are able to do and not what our solo effort(hard labour) can do.

Your view reminds me of the parable on talents. The talent in this case isnt necessarily a fiat currency. The talent is more of commitment(work) and faith. Some have been blessed with many not because they laboured very hard for it while some are given just a few not because they merited less. But because God's grace is sufficient for all that work in faith.
