We Have Become too Blood Thirsty as MMA Fans

I have been training martial arts for over 40 years. I actively compete in Jiu-Jitsu and box and kick box regularly so I have some background to make the following statement.

MMA fights go on too long when a fighter has taken a lot of damage. Take for example Brian Ortega and Charles Olivera in UFC 231. Blood was pouring out of Cowboy's head and if it was boxing the fight would have been stopped, or at least a doctor would have been called (and then the fight would have been stopped). Same for Brian, that fight would have been stopped in the fourth round if it was boxing.

I know the argument is but what about Frankie Edgar versus Gray Maynard he and the fans would have been robbed of one of the greatest comebacks ever. However, for every Frankie there are a 100 others that take a beating, fight with a broken arm, get cut up to beyond recognition, that don't make it back.

MMA is a sport and the fighters need to be protected. We should be watching to see great techniques and heart, and not just blood and unending beatdowns.
