Depth of Field.
For the Easydex Photocontest of this week, hosted by @boyerobert, the theme is "Depth of Field". And of course I've searched to find something. I didn't have any special thing in my mind, this past week I've been blanco in ideas ... But I took my camera with me today, while walking the dogs, to see what I could find.
I like the colour, I like the flower.
And I was really surprised when I walked through the beautiful garden belonging to the abbey. I saw this Red Clovers. Still blooming as if it is summer! I had to take a photo of it. For the simple reason that I like the colour, I like the flower and I know that the Red Clover can also be used for some medical issues. To give you an idea of what this plant / flower can do.
Red Clover is richly provided with Isoflavones.
Especially women can benefit from Red Clover. Red Clover is richly provided with Isoflavones and then helps to reduce menstrual and menopausal symptoms.
Compresses and baths and also drinking tea
Compresses and baths, but also drinking internal tea from them, helps with skin infections, eczema, psoriasis and also with skin cancer. Mouth baths help with inflammation in the oral cavity and with laryngitis: gargling with it. You can make an ointment for psoriasis and skin cancer: boil the red clover and put it in lard.
Reduce Symptoms
Tea from the dried plant can help with problems with the heart vessels, also to help prevent osteoporosis, or to reduce the symptoms. An infusion of the stalk helps with diarrhea and digestive disorders.
Edibility!
Pick the purple-red petals off and put through the lettuce. It tastes a bit sweet. Decorate your iced tea with red clover flowers! In Lapland they made bread from the red flowers for lack of grain. For smokers: chewing on a fresh flower makes you less need of a cigarette!
Symbol for the Holy Trinity
Trifolium in the Latin name means three-leafed, in the Middle Ages the symbol stood for the Holy Trinity. In Ireland, the red clover leaf is the national emblem.
Contraindications
Red Clover contains coumarin (= blood thinning), if you are already on blood thinners, do not use a red clover. Also not with problems with blood clotting. Red clover contains estrogen and should therefore not be used in endometriosis, and possibly until further investigation is done not in fallopian and breast cancer.
Dosage
Just drink the tea for health: a few times a week. Medicinal use: 2-10 weeks max. And then a few cups of tea per day.
