Daffodil Sunset
Daffodils in the sunset!

Today we have enjoyed the sunday at home. And a SUN day it was. With temperatures that were far above normal. Today we have just measured 26.6 degrees here!
We are also happy to see that our Lexxieboy could still enjoy the outdoors. It is not going better at the moment, but not really worse with Lex. Although I must mention that he did not want to eat his bowl of kibbles. For that I had to feed him by hand.
We try to look at what is possible and what can not be done each day, but it is certainly that we are slowly adding to a farewell. The clock is ticking for our big friend, that's pretty sure.
Every day there is one, and we still hope to be able to stick a few nice days to it, and as long as it does not get worse ... I keep cherishing that hope, and I enjoy his faithful sweet snout every moment.

nice photography
Thank you for your nice reply. I really apreciate that!
you are always welcome :) ;)
It's nice to hear that Lex could enjoy a bit outside in the sun today. I wish you much strength in this difficult time......
The picture is beautiful!
Thank you. Yes, he could enjoy the sun outside. He's happy to be outside. And we are happy that he can enjoy these days for now. I'm not sure that it can last much longer. Yesterday he didn't want to eat his bowl of kibbles ... this morning I had to feed him by hand again.
But if he still eats it is 'a good sign' ........ I also look with fear into the near future, as our older dog gets severe pain when it gets warm. This summer I'm worried that we have to make a decision because we do not want to see him suffer. He gets all the medicine that is possible but eventually it will not help anymore. He is already having problems with the slight increase in temperature when walking.
Ahw that's sad to hear. How old is your dog? And knowing we now are going towards the summer, andcertainly higher temperatures. Sad, I feel for you very much. The only fault about dogs is that they can't reach same age as we do.
I think our Lex eats because I insist, and sit in front of him. I also think, but that is really a guess, that he has a headache and can not bend his head forward. He keeps his head tilted all the time, when he is sitting, and also when he walks. And always in the same way.
Poor Lex - that sounds so bad. Having an impaired balance makes him for sure feeling dizzy and i also can imagine that it gives him a bad headache. I really hope that your vet was right with his diagnosis and the symptoms will go away. They say sometimes the head stays a bit tilted but with no consequences for the dog. We'll keep our fingers and paws crossed for you...
Our dog is 10 years old. It's not that old but he didn't had a good life in his first 7 years..he was chained ...to much outside in the cold...no food..etc. so this all did some damage to his body as he is an african dog with not much fur. Plus he is really big and big dogs unfortunately have to go even earlier.
I hold on to the fact that I know to have given him 3 beautiful years of a dog life how it should be. He doesn't have to go without someone caring for him. Yes...but for now we all enjoy every minute we have together ...i guess like you do :)
That sounds like you have a Rhodesian Ridgeback in the house and in your heart. Friends of mine have got one. They are amazing dogs ...
And oh YES we certainly do enjoy every minute with him. You know I have four dogs (all shepherds) around me every day. And Lex and Rowan don't get along very good. They tolerate each other, but that's it. And sometime it annoyed me ... the behaviour of Lex towards Rowan. When Rowan comes into a room after a walk Lex stands there barking at him, and if Rowan plays with the girls then there's always Lex barking and chasing Rowan. But now, Lex doesn't bark like he always did, he simply can't. He doesn't chase Rowan when he is playing with the girls because he can't. He's just standing and watching, and looks at me with his tilted head and a look in his eyes as if he's asking me for help. And even though I should be glad he can't bark at Rowan and he can't chase him ... the truth is, it really brakes my heart to see that Lex can not do the things he want to do.
Rowan is great towards Lex now. He's calm and submissive towards him. And that's also new to me. I keep telling myself that Rowans behaviour does not predict anything, but I'm really afraid. And that's why I cherish every minute with Lex now even more.
I don't know if Rowans new behavior predicts anything - but dogs feel if somebody doesn't feel well. And even they don't get along very good they know it is family and they belong somehow together.
Yes we have a Ridgeback and a Ridgeback-Stafford mix in the house. .....I love this breed
