This is the call of the Whippoorwill. I've never ever seen one in real life, only heard them. I've seen photos of them. I tried to grab one from Pixabay to show you, but the site is being a turd. That's one of the dogs that barks partway through the video. Of course. Why would they be quiet when I need them to be? Haha!
I wish I knew where my bird book was so I could tell you their range. They definitely don't seem to hang around here during the winter. We don't hear them until spring and summer.
WE used to hear them all the time when we lived in FL. Never heard one up here in New England.
