Yesterday it was announced that Javi Martínez will not extend his contract with Bayern Munich, and the Spaniard is therefore finished in German this summer. It marks the end of nine years with the German giants, after he switched from Athletic Bilbao in 2012. To the club's website, the 32-year-old midfielder puts a few words into his time at Bayern:

I am very proud and happy that I have been part of the Bayern Munich family for nine years. I would like to send a thank you to this good club and especially the fans - you have made Munich my home. I will never forget these years. I lived for this club, I always gave everything and I am happy for all the titles we have won together. Bayern and the fans will always be in my heart. Thank you very much - see you again.

Over the nine years, Javi Martínez has played 266 games, scored 14 goals and made 11 assists. Besides that, it has also turned into two Champions League trophies, two club World Cup trophies, five German cup tournaments, as well as eight German championships, which will most likely turn into nine when this season ends.
