Danu the Lazybones, A Moral Lesson Story for Students

Today I want to tell you a simple story that you can share with your children or students. A story that has a very deep moral lesson for us, especially for students in building disciplinary behavior and also for parents in educating their children in improving their discipline both in their social life and also in learning activities.

Once upon a time in the land of Pahang, there was a boy named Danu, he was a lazy but resourceful boy who made him clever in associating with his peers, but his ingenuity was exploited for his lazy interests only. Danu lives with his rather elderly parents, his father is Jacob and his mother is Shella.

One day, Danu's father told him to clean their vineyard not far from their house, Danu was asked to clean the caterpillars on the vine and harvest the ripe grapes. Danu obeyed his father's request but he cleaned it with no seriousness and laziness. Arriving in the vineyard, he did not immediately clean the caterpillars that have eaten a lot of grape leaves, but just sit back and relax in the hut in his garden.

Long awaited do not come back, Jacob, Danu's father also followed into the garden. He was very surprised to see Danu just sitting and lazing in the garden hut. "Danu! What are you doing? Why do not you immediately clean the caterpillars eat the leaves of the vine and pick the ripe grapes? "

"Oh my dad, I'm afraid to go into the garden because the garden is very dark. Father look, our garden was so dark until the caterpillars are not visible on the vine, "said Danu.

Danu's father became furious. He pulled Danu from the hut that was lying on his back and pushed him until Danu fell under the vine.

Danu just smiled his own selfish smirk, as if innocent. "It turns out our garden is bright, doesn't it?" He said with a very annoying smile. He then cleaned the caterpillars that are found in many of the vineyards.

On the other day, Danu's father told Danu to pick the ripe coconut fruit, which would be made into coconut milk to make gravy by his mother. The coconut tree grows on the riverbank behind their house. Danu is very lazy to pick the coconut fruit. But after his father looked angry and very emotional, Danu finally obeyed and willing to do it. Then Danu climbed the coconut trunk deftly. Picked one coconut fruit that has been ripe. What happened, the picked coconut fell into the river. Really very strange, Danu did not rush down to the river to pick up the fallen coconuts and let the coconut fruit drift away from the river.

Danu's father was surprised to see Danu coming home empty-handed without carrying the coconuts he picked. "What's going on?" Danu's father asked with a disappointed expression. "Which coconut fruit do I ask you to pick?"

Plain and innocent, Danu argued, "what? Was not the coconut fruit I had ordered to go home first? Why has not the coconut arrived the house yet? "

"What are you talking about Danu, what do you mean?"

"When I picked coconuts, the coconut fell into the river. Because he wants to walk alone and tell me if he wants to go home first. So I let him walk alone and precede me, but I warned him to get home quickly. It's an ungrateful old coconut, do not want to obey my orders! "Danu grumbled.

"Ah, that's just your tricks, Danu!" Danu's father was very disappointed and said. "Honestly, if you're lazy to bring the coconut home!"

Danu just laughed despite being scolded by his father. The lazy nature of Danu that day made them unable to eat because the coconut needed to cook the sauce cannot be obtained.

At another time Danu's father took his lazy son to pick the long beans in the garden. They brought sacks for the long beans they picked. Though just a few pounds of long beans are picked, Danu looked already very lazy to continue his work. Danu seems to be sleepy. He slept in the sacks they brought to the garden.

When the sun was right overhead, Danu's dad finished his work. He was looking for Danu to take home and he did not find Danu with him. "What a lazy and useless child!" "He must have come home before me because he was reluctant to carry a sack of heavy long beans!"

Danu's father was forced to carry the sack containing the Danu back to the house (his father did not know if the sack he was carrying was Danu). How surprised he was to find the contents of the sack he was wearing was not long beans, but Danu!

"This sack is not for humans but for the long beans!" Danu's father got angry and grumbled to himself after knowing that Danu was the one he had tied up to get home.

The next day Danu's father again took his lazy child to the garden again to pick the long beans ready for harvest. His father Danu is still annoyed and angry with yesterday's incident. He wants to take revenge on Danu's bad nature with the aim that he will be deterred. When Danu is picking the long beans, his father secretly enters the sack and sleeps. He meant to want Danu to carry him home the way he did yesterday.

The clock shows at 12 noon. Danu stops his job and sees his father is not with him. When he looked inside the sack, he saw that his father was fast asleep. Without a lot of talk and long stickers, Danu tied the sack and dragged him home.

Surprised Danu's father saw himself dragged by his son. He was screaming from inside the sack, "Danu! This is your father! Do not drag me like this! "

However, Danu still dragged his father's sack until he got home. Then Danu said without feeling guilty, "This sack is for long beans, not for humans."

Because of that incident, Danu's father was very angry with Danu. His father became indifferent to him and did not want to talk to him and even looked away if Danu greeted him. He seemed to have hated the behavior of his lazy child.

The moral lesson we can take from the story above is that laziness will only hurt ourselves. Therefore we should avoid laziness because it will only bring harm in the future.
