Advertising to children should be illegal.
In this absurdly consumerist culture, where consumerism is basically a cult in which people attend certain rituals in mass numbers, such as Black Friday, it should be profoundly obvious that it should illegal to advertise to children.
Of course, I'm not a statist, so approving of any law isn't exactly an action I want to take.
But we live in a society made up of law, so if we're going to have law, we might as well have good ones.
And banning advertisers from targeting children is most certainly a wise law.
Children need real information, education, playtime with real people, a strong family, not brand-name toys, pharmaceutical drugs, or other cheap trinkets you can't sell unless you deliberately try to manipulate and trick people into thinking they need it.
This should be super duper obvious, but for some reason, it's not done. I mean, you'd think in a land where we have laws preventing people from doing so many things, you'd think we'd have a legitimate "protect the children" type law.
But no. Instead the government itself advertises propaganda to children, religions give candy to children, as well as a fun time, just to get them and their future children into their cult long-term, and corporations try their hardest to "get 'em young", so that a person is brainwashed into liking a certain brand or corporation, just because of such invasive advertising.
This sort of law will not be passed though. This is not just a capitalist society; It is a consumerist society, so any attempt to ban this will be stopped, of course.
But we must at least try to protect the children by banning advertisements that target children, for the good of society, and their future as free-thinking people.
If you agree, awesome. Any ideas on how to make this idea better?
If you disagree, maybe you have a good idea as to why you disagree. Talk about it in the comments!

I agree that it is bad to indoctrinate children with consumerism. I think making them thing they have to own certain things to be happy is mentally damaging. And pushing overly sweet and nutritionally devoid fun foods are physically damaging.
I'm not sure if a law is the right answer or not. In general, and in my opinion, education and awareness of the issue, and the harm it does, is the way to go. You've taken a step in that direction by writing about it here. Thanks!
Yeah, with law, comes enforcement.
If I'm selling backpacks or school books without a license or something, and I want business, what would I do, right?
Laws are very terrifying things to have. I'd rather have none, and just assume everyone will be just as much an asshole or saint as they are already.
