Este fim-de-semana Portugal teve as temperaturas mais elevadas de sempre (41º ontem para o distrito de Coimbra)! Ou seja, maior previsão de incêndios. Apesar de o Governo ter decretado Estado de Calamidade Pública até hoje às 24h (uma série de restrições de pesca, caça, piqueniques em floresta, limpezas de matas, etc.), parece que nada mudou. Estamos com uma média de 15 a 20 incêndios por dia! Estão neste momento 10 incêndios activos no país! Estava esperançosa quanto a este decreto de Calamidade Pública, nunca antes se tinha ouvido falar de se ter activado tamanhas restrições e todas as forças de segurança portuguesas. Parece que nada mudou... 

This weekend Portugal reached the highest temperatures ever (41º yesterday at Coimbra's district)! Meaning that the fires were expected to increase also. Although the Government had decreed Public Calamity State until today at 00h00 (various restrictions to hunting, fishing, forest picnics, forest cleanings, etc.), it seems nothing changed. We've been with a mean of 15 to 20 fires a day! We have 10 active fires at the moment! I was hopeful about this Public Calamity decree, we've never heard about such restrictions and the activation of all the portuguese security forces. But it seems that nothing changed...

Todos os anos Portugal se refere a estes heróis de farda vermelha como os Heróis sem Capa, mas a sensação que dá é que parecem ser os únicos a fazer algo pelo país, porque assim tem que ser, porque foi a profissão (ou o hobby porque muitos são voluntários) que escolheram. Há outros heróis pelo país sim, mas hoje e depois de mais um fim-de-semana intenso que ainda não acalmou, achei que devia relembrar estes heróis de Portugal.

Every year Portugal refers to these red uniform heroes as the Capeless Heroes, but the feeling is that they seem to be the only ones doing something for the country, because it's the way it has to be, because it was the job (or the hobby because most of them are volunteers) they chose. There are other heroes throughout the country, but today and after this intense weekend that haven't calmed down yet, I thought I should remember these Portugal heroes.

Continuo esperançosa de que um dia Portugal inteiro perceba a beleza deste país e da natureza que tem e está a deixar morrer, que todos sem excepção percebam que podem e devem fazer a sua parte, que é necessário e urgente mudar mentalidades/negócios/leis, tenho receio que seja tarde demais...

I remain hopeful one day the entire country understands the beauty of the nature it has and it's letting dying, that everyone with no exception understands they can and should do their share, that is really necessary and urgent to change mentalities/businesses/laws, I'm afraid it's too late...
