New to STEEM and introducing myself!

Hello STEEM, I'm a father of two great boys. A husband to an amazingly intelligent wife. I'm in law enforcement, but I don't let my job define me as I'm a fairly big nerd when it comes to Sci-Fi, hacking electronics and gaming.

Travel

I've been fortunate enough to travel to several countries and get to see the world in various ways I never thought possible. I was lucky enough to travel to Bonn, Germany as a teenager for a foreign exchange. I then went on to Cuba, Bahamas, Mexico, Costa Rica, Eqypt and more!

Abu Simbel was by far the coolest feature in all of Egypt.

Kids!

Both my boys are amazingly sweet. There are trying times....oooh are they ever difficult at times, but nothing melts your heart when you get in after a long hard day and have your kids run to you and say how much they missed you. They talk about their days learning at school and what insect or animal they have seen that was new and exciting. I honestly love learning with them about things where my knowledge is limited. I set them straight on the importance of not judging animals/insects/plants/people because everything has a role in our ecosystem.

Yes they are holding the hands of the mannequin XD

Computers

I have been building/repairing and servicing computers since I was 16. When I was handed a screw driver and asked whether I could build a computer, because customers were coming that afternoon to pick up their PC and I had better have it ready! Since then I have helped seniors learn to skype, fixed laptops, built numerous machines for myself.

My current system was supposed to be simply a future proof gaming/work rig. It has since become a monstrous Zcash mining, gaming beast with a side of ultrawide productivity.

Sci-Fi, electronics and games oh my!

Star Trek: TNG was my first foray into science fiction and the first show I truly got hooked into watching. Stargate was a close second. My wife was able to even convince me into going to Egypt with her to see all the sights from Cairo to Aswan.

I love breaking electronics! There's something about finding root access to electronics to see what you can have access to and to see how you can better protect your electronics and to get more out of them!

Twilight Imperium interest you? What about Killer Bunnies? My families board/card game collection is ever growing. We will likely need to replace our Settlers of Catan pieces as they have been used thoroughly used.

I look forward to being able to contribute more to the STEEM community!

I build computers too and I use Ubuntu. Thanks for sharing, hehe. I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold. You can call me Joey.

I use Ubuntu a fair bit as well, I have a couple dual boot systems and have worked with embedded systems. I'm fairly "linux literate" and I have some experience coding (albeit not terribly proficient at it), so I lean on my wife to assist when I'm ever stuck.

Sweet. Amazing. Good to have a wife to lean on.
