ECLIPSE LUNAR TODAY JULY 27, 2018
In many parts of the world you can see a beautiful eclipse that will appear from 8:24 pm until 12:19 pm local time according to the calculations of the National Astronomical Observatory (OAN). After two years without total eclipses of the moon in Europe, 2018 is undoubtedly an astronomical experience. Tonight we will be able to observe one again, with the peculiarity that it will also be the longest of the 20th century.
The eclipse will be broadcast live in many parts of the world, including Venezuela. This will last approximately 4 hours the satellite of our planet will acquire an orange or reddish color.
This change in color is due to the fact that sunlight, at that moment, is filtered and refracted in the Earth's atmosphere. The Earth acts as a lens that diverts sunlight and effectively filters its blue components, so that it only passes the red light reflected by the satellite. This is how the Moon acquires that characteristic coppery glow.
