The Shopping Never Stops
What a day! I dropped my phone earlier this morning. (The new iPhones were not meant to be held in one hand, at least, not my smalls hands.) The screen is a goner, so we’ll have to get a new one and probably a cheap grippy case. So not only am I bad at phone photography, but we’ll see how my skills at iPad photography go for the next week or so.
It was actually warm out today, or it should have been. Thirty-some mph winds will make a warm 20 degree day feel like the typical negative degree days. Tomorrow’s weather says 36 and not so windy. Spring is coming! Which reminds me, I gotta get my shopping on.
I finally got my seeds ordered. (Haven’t you been talking about planting your seeds inside for the last week now? Yes, yes I know. But I live way up north, so I figure I still have some time!) I looked at my garden I drew out earlier, and I ended up ordering 6 extra plants. I’m pretty sure I have the room though. If not, it wouldn’t be too hard to expand the garden. We currently have 3 evergreens in our garden, one in 3 of the corners. Who puts evergreens in a garden, or who puts a garden next to evergreens?! I wanted to show you a picture from google maps, but by the time I zoomed in and cropped the picture, it was so pixelated, you would think you were looking at a scene from Minecraft. The plan is to take them down this spring, unless anyone can think of a reason to keep them??
Next, I shopped for a new cookbook. This was the Big Man’s idea. He tells me I need to learn to cook a more variety of meals. I opted for the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. I remember looking at my sister’s many years back, and it seemed like a good choice for someone who doesn’t really know what they’re doing nor cares for all the frills.
Then, I hopped over to Lehman’s for canning supplies. Oh goodness! I could spend a whole day on that website. Never did I think I’d trade ogling over high heels for ogling all the cast iron. (I may have gotten a little sidetracked.) I bought a canning tool set and some jars. I say some because I have no clue how much I will need, nor do I want to spend all my money at once. I figure the only canning I’ll do will be spaghetti sauce and potatoes. Otherwise, I think we’ll dehydrate the rest. I was looking at dehydrators, too. Has anyone tried the sun/oven kind, or is it worth it to buy the electric ones?
Now just to decide on some trees and shrubs for the yard. I picked up a form from the soil and water conservation district. Thinking of maple trees, cranberry bushes, some sort of evergreens, lilacs, and an apple tree. Those flame willows look pretty sweet too. Hmm.. we may have to narrow it down a bit.
Oofta! That is a lot. And we haven’t even started on the chickens yet! Good thing I like shopping :)
That sounds like a busy day. My I suggest Pioneer Woman cook book. The Big Man will love it. My wife has been using it for a few years and everything she makes out of it is a homerun
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check it out
Just so you know I use 4 of them. (He doesn't know) Lol but all her recipes are online. Pinterest can do what any cookbook can:) sorry about your phone! That stinks!
I have been using Pinterest or allrecipes so far and if I find something I like, I’ll write it down on a card. Sometimes, it’d be nice just to flip through a book though. I’m hoping the new screen arrives sooner rather than later. I may have to rely on google for pictures lol!
Sounds like you have lots going on! Sorry about the phone, ouch!
It’s a busy for sure! I miss the iPhone 5. That was the perfect size for me!
