Delicious Vegan Food in Croatia: Vegehop!
If you're ever in Croatia's capital and are looking for some yummy vegan food, look no further than Vegehop in Zagreb! Behind a wall, nestled in an alley is a quaint, little cafe offering vegan and raw options. With a daily menu, fresh soups, mains and salads (don't forget the dessert cabinet!) you might have a hard time figuring out what to choose! The friendly server sold me on giving barley coffee a try. Fun fact: it's not coffee! It's just a similar tasting, non caffeinated beverage made from the grains and it holds a nutty, earthy flavor! I took mine black but the cafe offers your choice of nut milk and agave syrup to accompany it- at that point I think it would be more like a dessert (yum!) After agonizing over what to choose for lunch, I ended up ordering the raw zucchini noodles with cashew cheese. I was planning on sprinkling some shredded tofu over it but my order got confused and I ended up with this tempura tofu which smelled like a dream but unfortunately was made with flour and I couldn't have it because flour = not gluten free. 😥 The raw dish was great but pretty light so I finished off with their chocolate energy smoothie served in this wine glass! 😍 Fast, free WiFi, easy to get to on the tram and super friendly servers, yummy vegan and raw options = I highly recommend! 💜 Sending love to you from Croatia as I move onto the coast! XO, Cece 😘
