Check Mate (day 32)
I'm a gazelle racing a lion
He tries to catch me
He thinks I'm a prey
I won't surrender to the fatigue.
I will keep running, not out of fear.
I am ahead and that will not change.
I will keep running to show him that
I can beat him in his own game
Since this jungle is so unfair
That it calls him king in advance.
I will not fail, if I can keep
My eyes fixed on the end line.
looking back would slow me down.
Comparing myself to him
Having him in my thoughts
Somehow brings him closer, I know.
So I'll keep running, keep my pace,
Because, in the end, it's just a race,
And even if the rules would change
Oh I can trust my deadly horns,
That maybe he forgot I have them.
Because some others didn't use them.
I do not hope we'll get to that
But if we do, I can remind him.
As women it was not our choice
to be in this, but let us proove:
If the king can't even win his race
He shouldn't be sitting on that throne.
This is my Day 31 of @d-pend's 100 Day Poetry Challenge. You can visit Steemit School on discord if you want to learn more about it or if you want to join our daily poetry lesson.
Today I had my first Karate training session in years. I went to the club one hour early so I got to watch the younger ones train before we start. A little girl had my attention when she cheated earned a place in the first line with older boys.
The trainer was calling the kids one by one and telling them to choose where to stand starting with the stronger ones and the ones who have higher belts. By the time he called her name, the first two line had four boys in each and the kids were filling the third. She didn't stand in the back, she made herself a fifth line and other kids went behind her.
I started this poem thinking of her, then I tried to imagine what would I write if I was a feminist woman and that was fun.
Actually I wanted to see how well I can write in womens style after I saw a challenge called "Describe Yourself Like a Male Author Would" where women were making fun of male authors trying to create female caracters. It's a funny read check it out here.
Was I that bad?

I think this poem is extraordinary, the man is like a lion who must conquer the challengers, so as to protect the queen who will be a companion of his life until the end of his life
thnks for the comment
but I think you're reading it wrong :/
He's more of a competitor thinking he's a predator claiming he's a king
The queen didn't ask for protection!

awesome poem dear @hazem91
The little girl actually cheated to have a place? oh boy! 😊
Thank you @zephalexia
Haa! Who said she cheated? Not me lol
100 days of poems - that's quite a commitment, it's a good job you don't sleep very much! This is a good one, and I like the back story to it as well of the girl in the Karate class - some will always be born to lead.
