Beautiful Bougainvilleas

These are two Bougainvillea bushes that are intertwined. One has an orange-red color and the other is deep purple. Actually these colorful parts of the plant are not the flowers. The flower of the Bougainvillea is white . If you look closely you can see the tiny white flowers in the middle of the colorful bracts. The bracts are modified leaves and they bring all the colors to the plant. Some of the colors are yellow, orange, red, and purple. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful but beware of the thorns. The branches are full of thorns and I can attest to the fact that some can grow really long. Trimming this plant is a beast. It is a vine so if left unchecked, it will go all over the place like on walls, trees, and fences. It is best to keep it in check and groomed.
