Make sure you live in the right place, it's illegal to try to live sustainably in places like California... It's so weird 👽
@havtorn while our little homestead isn't as sustainable as it can be YET, I am very aware of the pitfalls of some sustainable practices compared to the local municipalities and their "rules". Isn't CA one of the places it's now illegal to harvest rainwater? Things like composting toilets, cobb building, etc are often against regulations because they simply haven't put any regulations in place for those things. Maybe @jacobpeacock can tell the story of our friend who ran into that in a county outside Knoxville, Tennessee. Thankfully, where we live is in one of the few counties left in the entire United States that the building restrictions aren't counter-productive to sustainable set-ups...yet...if only we could get more of the neighbors to take advantage of that...
