Holla steemians !! As my first post, I want to thank all the voting on my introductory page, hopefully our relationship will last longer and better throughout the day, as my first post too, I want to introduce the world, one of the most popular things in my country, habits, needs, necessities and almost a day obligation, coffee !!
Coffe in acehnese community has been transformed into a big phenomenon and almost becomes a duty for every individual who is staying or just visiting Aceh, who does not know this type of drink? Everybody know what coffe is, not as everyone know who Donald Trump is, famous coffee to almost every corner of the world, and even the best-selling beverage in almost every place that serves coffee menu as one of its main choices.
In Aceh, coffee drinks did not originate from since Aceh society stood, coffee entered Aceh during Dutch colonial times, brought by one of the Dutch traders in the seventeenth century, the coffee entrance to aceh originally from the port of Batavia, only in 1908 coffee plants started in cultivation in Aceh. The first coffee cultivated in Aceh is a type of arabica coffee, then a robusta type. Gayo Land located in aceh is the first area of coffee plantation in Aceh, at that time the Dutch colonial government ordered the aceh people to only consume robusta coffee, while arabica coffee for their own consumption and they export to other corners of the world as one of the premium commodities after pepper and rice. The first coffee plantation developed by Dutch colonial government was located in the Dutch colonial government base at that time, the city of Takengon. Takengon City itself changed drastically into the center of economy and government and became the largest city on Gayo Land along with the famous coffee as a premium commodity to the corner of the world. The first largest coffee plantations developed in by Dutch colonial named Belang Gele which is located not far from the city of Takengon, then the famous coffee to all corners of Gayo Land that has a cold climate.
After the war of independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the coffee plantation in Gayo Land was given to one of the leaders of Gayo Land fighter at that time who was named Ilyas Leube, as one of the wise leaders, Ilyas Leube distributed the whole coffee plantation to the people who have merit and become coffee planters during the Dutch colonial occupation. Other Gayo farmers who realize that coffee crops become very valuable and then start planting empty land around it with coffee plants so that then Gayo Land became the center of the coffee plantation in Aceh. Approximately 90,000 hectares of Gayo Land in planting coffee plants, which then make the Land Gayo as the largest coffee producer not only in Indonesia but also in Asia. Aceh's fertile and favorable weather conditions make the Aceh coffee plant evolve into a high-quality and profitable commodity. Indonesia is the world's fourth largest exporter of coffee beans, and Aceh accounts for 40% of the premium arabica beans of total coffee harvest in Indonesia. Gayo coffee then transformed into one of the best coffee in the world, and famous up to 17 major countries such as the United States, Japan, Netherlands, Germany, England, and others. How Amazing it!!
As one of the provinces of Indonesia, the majority of Aceh population is Muslim, and is the most well-known Muslim in Indonesia and Asia. As adherents of the Islamic religion, the aceh society is very obedient in performing all obligations and worship as Muslims. Culture of drinking coffee in aceh almost like obligatory worship for the community, every activity of aceh society always accompanied by coffee, morning, noon, night and even midnight, all routine of aceh society always mix with coffee, so do not be surprised when aceh got two nicknames as a province with the slogan of a thousand mosques and a thousand coffee shops.
The taste of coffee in aceh is very different from coffee in other parts of the world because of the very typical way of serving and processing, aceh coffee beans are heated to a certain temperature for 4 full hours until maturity reaches 80%, then coffee beans are cooked in milled until smooth with a mixture of sugar and butter, this process makes the coffee beans have a distinctive strong taste, clean and not sour. The way of serving aceh coffee is also very special and unique to produce its own taste, aceh coffee is not directly served raw, coffee brewed with water that keep remains in a state of boiling, steeping coffee in the filter repeatedly with a filter of a special cloth, then the pour repeatedly from one scoop to another, until finally able to produce a very fragrant coffee, concentrated and without waste. Almost all modern and traditional aceh coffee shops serve coffee in that way, so it's no wonder that aceh coffee is kept awake to wherever it is served and anyone who enjoys it, no matter farmers, unemployed, government officials, important officials, foreign tourists and all the people of Aceh and who just visited Aceh can enjoy the delicious taste of Aceh coffee in different ways but with the same taste.
