🏃 My Running Log | 21/03 | Fartlek 9km | Total - 309.2km in 2019! | 17 days until Norwich Half Marathon!

I just finished a 8.901km run that lasted about 0hh:39mm:10ss !

A little longer than I had expected to run today, but still very enjoyable. A little easier than the previous runs I have gone on, but still pretty intense and my goal was to attack the hills - which went really well; I got 4 more Strava Segment PRs on all the hilly segments and managed to get into the Top 10 this year on 3 of them. My aim with this run is to make sure that the hills I encounter at the City of Norwich Half Marathon aren't too problematic - attacking the hills I do encounter not only builds my strength, but allows my body to become more efficient at recovering after one. I know for a fact the race won't be too hilly, but hills have let me down in the past, so I'm not letting that happen again.

The weather was a little colder than the previous days, but that's probably because I headed out quite early before the fog has started to rise. It was very humid despite it being cold, and my top half - especially - got pretty wet with the mixture of sweat and air moisture.

My next run is going to be Parkrun on Saturday and I'm hoping for a sub-20:30 minute effort. Hopefully the higher mileage, greater paces and more intense efforts will mean it'll be a little easier to go faster. Then on Sunday I'm planning my Half Marathon practice run, and I'm a little anxious for it - mostly because of the uncertainty at what pace I really should be aiming for, but if I set off at around 4:25/km and re-evaluate after every few kilometres that'll tell me more. This week is set to be a 50km+ mileage week, and should be my last really intense week before the actual event - I'll aim for around 30km next week, and a 10-15km taper week for the last week.
