I just finished a 4.816km run that lasted about 0hh:20mm:48ss !

Today didn't start as planned; jumped into the car, only for it to have a little trouble starting, and had to ask for a lift up to Parkrun. I got there about 8 minutes before it should start, but Andover never usually starts at 9:00am exactly so I was just about fine to squeeze in a little warm-up and some stretching. I'd decided to wear my On Cloudflows, which aren't particularly great in the mud, and the ground was very muddy- so muddy in fact that they had to alter the 'Winter Route' and we were running a very odd route that took a little getting used to!

In terms of the actual run, it was perfect. I felt very, very strong even with the muddy conditions. I managed to get a time of 20:45 which is only 7 seconds off my Andover PB and it shows that I'm getting closer and closer to peak fitness - I think the intervals I'm including on some of my runs are paying dividends! I think the route was a little shorter (by about 80m), though, so I'm not sure how much to read into the time of 20:45, but even if it was the usual route, it would've easily been my fastest Parkrun of the year. I also tested out some new split shorts that I'm going to call my race shorts (wearing them for any big events & every Parkrun, and then another pair for training runs), and they were wonderful.

I'm not sure what I'll have planned for next week, but I need to up the mileage. I'm really, really happy how I'm progressing week on week and my sub-1:35 goal at the Norwich Half Marathon is getting more and more realistic.

Nice work almost setting a new PB! That's awesome. 80m shortness be damned. I've seen you mention this "Park Run" a couple times. Is it a semi-regular run? Or a seasonal thing?

Aiming for a sub 1:35 is an awesome goal. I think my best time for a half marathon was 1:48 or something like that. I'd need to (and tentatively plan to) put on some serious mileage to get back into that kind of form.

On a related note. @theycallmedan is running a delegation contest. If you're interested -- pop over to this post and give a nomination for @exhaust!

Cheers!

It's a completely free, weekly timed 5km run based in local Parks/Green Spaces (hence the name). Pretty much every settlement in the UK hosts one, and they're cropping up all over the world too! Here's a link to their website.
