SCIENCE comes from the Latin word "scientia" which means knowledge. The general temperament of science is defined as a way of studying certain aspects of nature in an organized, systematic way and through scientific methods that are standardized.
Here are some other general notions of science :
- Systemic knowledge of the physical world or matter obtained through observation and experimentation
- Branches of knowledge or studies relating to facts or truths, systematically arranged and showing the operation of common law
- Systematic knowledge in general
- One branch of the natural or physical sciences
- A branch of certain knowledge
- Knowledge as fact or principles; knowledge gained by systematic study
- Skills that reflect the proper application of facts or principles; proficiency
The scope of science
The scope of science is limited to things that the senses can understand (sight, touch, hearing, touch & tasting) or it can be said that science is acquired through learning and proof.
The definition of science as mentioned above is often known or referred to as pure science, to be able to distinguish it from applied science, which is the application of science aimed at meeting the various human needs. Science in the classified into 2 (two), among them are :
- Natural sains
- Sosial sains
The purpose of science
The most general description, the purpose of science is to produce a model that can be useful about reality. In general, scientific investigations use some form of scientific method. In general the method used, namely :
- Observation
- Prediction
- Hypothesis
- Research
- Conclusion
The division of science
Some examples of the many divisions of various fields of science, especially IPA or natural science, such as:
Earth Science = Environmental science, geology, geodesy, hydrology, paleontology, meteorology, oceanography and more
Biology (Biology) = Anatomy, Biophysics, Physiology, Genetics, Ecology, Taxonomy, Virulogy, Zoology and others.
Physics (Physics) = Astronomy, kinetics, nuclear physics, dynamics, material physics, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, optics and others
Chemistry (Chemistry) = Analytical Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, materials science, polymer chemistry, thermochemistry and others.
