Insect Macro | Drosophila melanogaster
This morning I found a small insect on leaves of plant in my home garden, known as Drosophila melanogaster, a winged insect that belongs to the order Diptera, (the nation of flies).
This species is commonly known as fruit flies in experimental biology libraries (although there are many other types of fruit flies) and is the model organism most widely used in the study of genetics, physiology and the evolution of life history. D. melanogaster is popular because it is very easy to breed (only takes two weeks to complete the entire life cycle), easy to maintain, and has many phenotypic variations that are relatively easy to observe.
These images were taken using my Realme 3 mobile and extra macro lens on the camera.
